FAMILY ROOM UPDATE | NEW COUCH

FAMILY ROOM UPDATE

It has been ages since I've shared this updated space. Not too much has changed, other than actually having a comfortable place to relax and lounge. If you recall we just recently relocated our tv into this room. One of the most viewed posts on This Minimal House also happened in this room, our $19 Photo ledge wall full of some of our favorite photographs. It's a fan favorite, and for good reasons! Not only can you collect a bundle of your favorite photographs, but it this diy project is a total statement piece. Follow us on Pinterest, and save for a rainy day!

Moving right along. Our couch. It has been life changing to say the least. It has been a total game changer when it comes to utilizing this room for end of day relaxation. Not only that, but it is so incredibly spacious, and for a family of six we desperately needed that. We thought it would be too large for our space due to the awkwardness of our room, but it actually works perfectly as a room divider.

The yellow pillows aren't necessarily my forte, because #color, and the amount of pillows (and pillows in general) would probably make the list for my thoughts on how to obtain a minimal design in your home and mind post, HOWEVER I will say this couch has KIND OF turned me pro pillow. Now do they do all the things one would assume having four rambunctious kids (i.e getting used for pillow fights, ending up on the floor, used to forts), YES, but such is life.

A majority of the time I have the designs flipped around and the gray pillows facing forward to have a more simplistic, less busy aesthetic. There was however one pillow that didn't have a gray/solid option, so it's currently tucked away in our laundry room wardrobes. The couch is solid and heavy, and one of my favorite features is the depth of the cushions. Aside from that, the cushions are full of blended feathers. This time around we purchased a warranty that will offer three years of overall coverage and full replacement/refund if anything happens that can't be fixed.

Here's a different angle to give you an idea of the couches size in this room.

So overall this space is complete, however a few things will be changing now that the tv has been moved in here.

  • Remove hanging light fixtures and replace with can lights like our dining room.

  • MAYBE add a rug in. I'm not exactly pro-rug in homes for numerous reasons, but it could be a potential option if we invest in a proper vacuum.

  • Replace windows.

Now that summer has come to a close we're kicking it into super gear around here to knock projects off the list before it's time for sweaters, smores and football! Thanks for stopping by and reading, friends!
