So I realized that I shared our DIY Modern wood playset phase one post/video, and how to build an $8 PVC pipe sprinkler, but haven't shared a full view after. Today I'm sharing phase two which includes the slide and ramp railing installations. These two things completely brought the vision to life, not to mention made the play set itself usable for our children.
Another fun project that has taken place since building this play set are the woods. We had them professionally cleared to prepare the ground for fall, as well as having more usable yard space. Down below you can see a front view of our new fun sprinkler after install. It's a very minimal yet functional feature that cost under $10.
We have grand plans for the space below the play set. The plan is to turn the lower space into a deck where we can have a kid/toddler pool for warmer months. We can't have anything enclosed due to it being near a semi wooded area (avoiding spiders, bugs, snakes at all costs).
A few things we're going to add for phase three of this project include:
Some form of 'roof', we have a few ideas in mind.
Outdoor string lights to allow for night play to accomdate time change in the fall.
Stain and seal all the wood.
Add bird feed to our DIY bird house we added to the top back.
Square up all the wood on the top/ramp.
Add soft landing mat at bottom of slide (where you see the tree root mud pit).
I would also love to plant a few more blooms are the perimeter. You might be able to see in a few of these that we have the trampoline behind it. Here are a few more shots of phase two.
Super stoked to start tackling the phase two check list! It's definitely more cosmetic and fun projects from here on out to make our aesthetic fully come to life. Thanks again for reading! If you haven't seen our time lapse video of phase one building, check that out here.
