INSPIRING BACKYARD FIRE PITS + OUR CURRENT SPACE
A few weeks ago we made the decision to have our woods cleared, on both the side of the house as well as the back. It was a total game changer for our yard and freed up an enormous amount of usable space for ourselves and our children. Once we were able to see the new space, we could visualize our plans, and see them come to life. It was magical. Who knew clearing woods would bring so much joy. Ha!
A fire pit/patio sitting area is definitely at the top of our list, next to our deck. I shared some pros and cons to multi level decks, the deck we're entertaining, on this post here so go check it out! We have pretty low and attainable goals for this space because for one we're not natural gardeners/landscapers, and two four children. Enough said. We're looking for easy, practical, and affordable. We will most likely do this entire fire pit/ patio using materials from our local Home Depot.
Here are a few of my favorite inspiring backyard fire pits. I'm going to be pulling my favorite aspects from each one. Before I do that though, here is our current space for a good visual during the remainder of this post.
Do you see that potential I see? I mean I have so many ideas just flowing from all the creative juices. Think this one is good? Look at this slight pull back on the same area. It's basically telling us to go straight to The Home Depot and get this thing started. Another thing that should be noted is that after we had our woods cleared we threw down grass seed AND IT GREW! That probably isn't impressive to you if you have no issues with growing things, but for us it was a big deal, and we're excited!
So moving right along, let's take a look at the backyard fire pits that are inspiring me and what I love most about them.
I am loving this pea gravel in the backyard space above. I think it would be the perfect filler for our backyard fire pit seating area. Not only is it a great non-flammable material, but I love the neutral tones it offers against the greenery.

These wood benches are giving me all the feels. I am loving that these have storage as well. I think that would be a great option for storing cushions during bad weather, or in our case when our pointer puppy is outside, aka cushion eater. Moving on to one of the biggest issues we face next.

Living by water and on a wooded lot means we're extremely prone to mosquitoes. I'm not talking about a few mosquitoes here and there, I'm talking swarms and swarms. I am loving these potted plants and would absolutely love to surround not only the sitting area with mosquito repellent plants, but also the walkway down to the fire pit patio. If you're a bug repellent play lady/man send all your repellent plant recs our way!

Finally lighting. Since this sits pretty far back from our house, lighting is a must at night. I am absolutely inspired by string lights, and if you scroll back up to the second photo of our backyard space you'll see why!
So that's a wrap for our inspiring backyard fire pit + our current space! I'm beyond excited to break ground on this project before summer comes to and end so we can go into fall with a great space to enjoy some smores and family time! Make sure you pin the photo below to save this post for later! Thanks like always, for stopping by and reading! So greatly appreciated!
