SOL Organics + a Master Bedroom update

So confession time. Would you believe me if I told you that Scot and I have NEVER had matching bed sheets since we’ve known each other? I’m not sure if we’ve just never had the time or energy to look for ethically made sheets that also matched our aesthetic or whether we were intimidated by making such a big purchase, but I can now say we are the happy new owners of these sheets.

They’re made by SOL Organics, and if you’re not familiar with them let me throw a couple of awesome facts your way to highlight why they're such a commendable company!

  • They’re fair trade. Why does fair trade matter? This is a global movement committed to making conscious choices for a better world. The people behind the scenes creating these products receive a livable wage, allowing for income sustainability. This movement also aids empowering farmers, giving them a voice in the workplace and community. The most amazing part of fair trade? Absolutely NO child labor, EVER! As a mother, and online purchaser, it’s important to know the source where you’re ordering from.

  • Sustainable and Organic. The main drive behind SOL Organics was to bring ethical integrity into a marketplace that essentially was completely saturated with inequality, abuse, and dirty cotton. Read more on their about page here.

  • They offer a variety of items including bedding, bath towels, duvets, comforters, and baby crib mattresses. They’re a one stop shop for almost all of your home linens!

We knew we wanted grey bedding, because we have a neutral color palette in our home, and the Dover Grey didn’t disappoint. It’s beyond soft, has the slightest sheen, and it extra light and airy. The bedding bundles come with the following:

  • One fitted sheet

  • One flat sheet

  • 2 Pillowcases*

  • Duvet Cover

  • 2 pillow sham covers*

  • 100% GOTS certified

At $179, that is a STEAL. An organic, fair trade, absolutely no child labor steal!

Since our master bedroom needed a few upgrades, we decided to build off of the grey bedding. Scot and I DIY’d our new headboard, and are excited to share just how crazy inexpensive and easy it was to put together. Hanging on the other hand took a lot of patience and swear words.

To add a little contrast we added this Behr paint to the main wall behind the headboard to give it a little contrast. We traded the original baseboards, which is our goal for the remainder of the house, with MDF.

Here are a few more photos of the current status of our master bedroom.

Still on the master bedroom to-do list is the following:

  • Hang pendant lights on sides of bed

  • Paint remaining walls

  • Install IKEA closet

  • Sand down floors*

  • Replace windows*

  • Swap ceiling fan

  • Add art

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out the progress of our master bedroom, and our new loved sheets from SOL Organics. If you’re in the market for new sheets, and want a healthier option we totally think you should give them a try! You won’t regret it!
