DIY CHARCOAL SHIPLAP WALL

DIY CHARCOAL SHIPLAP WALL.JPG

I love shiplap walls. It's such an inexpensive way to add character to a room, and has the ability to make a bold statement, depending on which finish you end up going with. This wall in particular has been unfinished for almost a year now. When I say unfinished I mean not painted, stained, or sealed. It was just slats of underlayment nailed to the wall.

Here is what is looked like prior to painting it.

Nothing was wrong with the unfinished shiplap, and I loved the aesthetic of the wood grain, but I was also craving some contrast. I color matched our dresser pulls at Home Depot with Behr Ultra paint. Another factor was the fact that the underlayment and the hardwood floors clashed, and in a bad way. Our hardwoods have a yellow stain poly on them (previous owners, not our choice), and I couldn't handle the two together anymore.

I love how drastically it changed this room. Unfortunately for my husband, when I snag a great paint color I tend to use it throughout the house. This week I finally jumped the gun and painted our kitchen window trim to add some contrast to our pretty bright kitchen. You can check that post out here.
