Before getting a permit you submit a drawing of your building plan. Once your building plan is approved you can move forward in your building process. The biggest change from the deck before and what we're planning for the new deck, is length. Before our back deck was only connected to one door, which isn't an issue, but it made for an awkward layout with a random brick staircase.. The new deck building plans will allow for our deck to have access to two doors.
Speaking of brick staircase that's what we spent a majority of our day doing yesterday! If you're looking for a labor intense, whole body workout, demolish a brick staircase and you'll be asking yourself why you did that the next morning. Here's our current curb view.
Hundreds, if not thousands of bricks were underneath this brick staircase. I'm talking at least two feet into the ground. We could've built a tiny house with all of them. This is just a few loads pictured above, there's still at least two more we have to bring to the curb. For a visual here's what the stairs looks like before we started demo.
And this is what the stair case currently looks like.
Anyways, back to our deck building plans. The brick staircase had to go because it interfered with the deck posts as seen in the deck building plans below.
We're going to take our deck building plans in first thing tomorrow morning and once approved we're going to go ahead and start building in stages! Can't wait to share more with you guys! Also in case you missed it on the last post we want to know something! Would you be interested in seeing live footage of our projects moving forward? Drop your answer in the comments!
