HOW TO FRAME OUT CABINETS TUTORIAL
Framing out cabinets can completely transform and take your room from 50% to 100%. Filling the gap between the cabinets and the ceiling makes the room look finished and complete, not to mention cleaner. We had to brainstorm when it came to filling this gap due to the amount of moving room we have in our laundry room. Once your assemble these cabinets, there's no taking them back down!
To start off, as you can see from the photos above, we took our measurements and grabbed some spare 2x4's we had leftover from our basement framing. We essentially got the wood in position on top of the cabinet and drilled into it. Once we had both 2x4's secured to the cabinets we took measurements of some spare MDF we had to use as our 'finishing piece".
Here's a before and after comparison
Now that the MDF "finishing pieces" are in place we just need to caulk the nail holes and ceiling to get rid of the small gap and this inexpensive five minute do it yourself project is complete!
It feels so great to see this laundry room transformation take place! I'm loving how drastically different it already looks just after framing out the cabinets! If you have cabinet gap and give this easy diy a try I'd love to see!
